Yamato Moritake
In 2002, he entered the Tokyo University of the Arts majoring in the contrabass. While he was a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, he participated in the Pacific Music Festival 2004, the 6th Beppu Argerich Music Festival, the Japan Chamber Orchestra, the Miyazaki International Music Festival, and the Lucerne Music Festival, etc.
After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he studied abroad at the Graduate School of Music and Drama in Munich. He enrolled in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Academy.
He has been a member of the Dresden National Opera Orchestra since the 2011/12 season, the Linz Bruckner Orchestra since the 2012/13 season, and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra since the 2018/19 season. Since 2020, he has also been teaching the younger generation of students at the Upper Austrian State Music School. As well as holding recitals in Vienna and other parts of Europe where he has been well received, he regularly holds charitable concerts for disaster victims, children with cancer, and refugee aid throughout Austria. He won the first prize in the Czech Simandl International Contrabass Competition and the Fukka Special Award.
